Geological Study

Geology is the study of the earth's crust and its rock formations, and includes classifying and mapping of the composition and distribution of mineral deposits contained in the earth's formations. OGC’s staff of professional engineers and geologists, field engineers and engineering technicians collectively make use of engineering application of geology to mineral resources (both metallic and non-metallic) exploration; identification and evaluation of problems associated with surface and underground construction works, site investigation; exploration of construction material sources; development and management of groundwater resources; earthquake hazard assessment; groundwater contamination and environmental impact assessment; and identification and remediation of natural hazards. In the mining industry, this knowledge is applied to find additional mineral resources and to upgrade existing resources.

OGC has an extensive network of top quality geological associates including geologists, geophysicists, remote sensing specialists, and mining and geotechnical engineers.
